Description & Provenance

This unique specimen exhibits a great deal of geological complexity in the form of several varying mineral formations, as well as evidence of numerous generations of crystal growth. A matrix (host rock) of densely crystallized, lustrous, deep-purple amethyst crystals makes up the base of this natural sculpture from which a vertical, abstract formation of calcite has grown. Crowning the specimen is a sharp, blade-like calcite crystal completely coated in a druze of shimmering, black goethite crystals. The presence of calcite is what propels the aesthetics of this specimen to another level with its dramatic, jagged, and highly interpretive form. While its mineralogical complexity alone would be intriguing enough to demand attention, its aesthetic beauty and overall form is undeniably compelling, mesmerizing all who see it. Intense and wonderfully balanced, this specimen would stand out in any room.
